How can a discectomy help?

A minimally invasive discectomy is a procedure that can relieve symptoms that are caused by a disc herniation or bulging disc. A disc herniation or bulge will often times cause spinal or foraminal canal narrowing. When this happens, patients typically will experience localized back/neck pain and also may experience radicular symptoms that extreme into the upper and lower extremities.

In a minimally invasive discectomy, the surgeon may use a variety of tools to remove the portion of the disc that is causing the canal narrowing. Removal of that portion of the disc can be performed with a tool called a rongeur or the surgeon may elect to vaporize the compromised portion of the disc with a laser. Low-level heat from the laser can then further be used to cauterize the disc to reduce the potential for re-herniation.

If you have been diagnosed with, Disc hernation, Bulging disc, Spinal stenosis, Foraminal stenosis, Sciatica, a minimally invasive discectomy may be a treatment option for you:

Our patient consultants are ready for your call. 360 Ortho and Spine offers a Free MRI Review to determine if minimally invasive treatment could help put you on the path to relief.
